The video below shows Thomas’ outstanding performances during the 2011 NHL Playoffs.

Tim Thomas took an unusual path to the NHL. Initially drafted by the Quebec Nordiques with the 217th overall pick of the 1994 NHL Draft, Thomas spent the early years of his post-college career bouncing around the minor leagues and playing in Europe. Thomas was 28 before even making it into the NHL, and he was 32 before locking down his first NHL starting spot with the Boston Bruins.

The definition of a late bloomer, Thomas went from strength to strength when given that role. He won the Vezina Trophy as the best goaltender in the NHL in 2009 and 2011. That 2011 season saw Thomas at the peak of his powers. He won the Conn Smythe Trophy as the MVP of the NHL Playoffs, as his incredible saves led the Bruins to the Stanley Cup Trophy. At 37 years old, Thomas is the oldest player in NHL history to win that trophy.
